Commercial Solar Power

A commercial solar energy system is a great way to power your business with clean, renewable electricity at an affordable cost. Solar power is generated through photo-voltaic cells or PV cells. A typical PV system will include:

  • Solar Array: Powering your business with the Sun starts here. The solar array is comprised of a series of solar panels. The bigger the array, the more electricity it is capable of producing. When sunlight hits the solar array, DC electricity is generated.
  • Inverter: The DC electricity from your array travels to the inverter, where it is converted from DC to AC electricity. AC electricity is identical to the type of power you receive from the utility power grid.
  • Electric Service Panel: AC electricity from your inverter passed to the electric service panel where it is routed to power your facility’s various electric loads.
  • Utility Power Grid: When your solar electric system generates more power than your business is consuming, excess electricity is routed to the power grid. When you feed electricity back to the grid your meter will spin backwards, earning you credits on your bill.

Solar Thermal Energy

Solar thermal energy is a technology for harnessing solar energy for thermal energy (heat). In the United States, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems account for over 25 percent of the energy used in commercial buildings and nearly half of the energy used in residential buildings. Solar heating, cooling, and ventilation technologies can be used to offset a portion of this energy.
Southwest Commercial Solar has numerous solar thermal products such as:

Solar Pool Heating
Solar swimming pool heating is the most cost effective application of solar energy. Extend the swimming pool season by several months with a solar pool heater. Compared to gas, oil or electric heat pump, a solar pool heater will pay for itself in savings, in as little as one year!

Solar Water Heaters
Reduce or eliminate hot water heating energy costs with a solar water heating system. Solar hot water heaters save money, reduce carbon, and lower our dependence on imported energy.

Combined Cooling, Heat, & Power (CCHP, formerly co and tri generation)

Alternative Energy of North America is the authorized distributor of 2G Cenergy, the world’s leading producer of CHP and CCHP advanced technology on site electricity, cooling, and heat generation systems.

2G Cenergy and Alternative Energy of North America offer fully customized and expertly engineered systems including: hospitals, schools, municipal wastewater and potable facilities, food processing plants, & many other applications that require continuous, standby, or peak power production.  CCHP can produce chilled water from generated heat using modern absorption chilling systems.

We design and install systems that can utilize biogas, biodiesel and plant oil, landfill gas, sewage gas, coalmine gas, and natural gas.  Systems range in size from a micro system rated at 48eKW to 3510eKW(4387kVA). Larger systems are available. Alternative Energy and Southwest Commercial Solar are members of EPA, CHP, and the US Dept. of Energy. CCHP technologies are recommended by the US Dept. of Energy.
